Willem Moolenbeek was born in Holland and studied saxophone in Toronto with the legendary concert saxophonist Paul Brodie. Other teachers have included Americans Fred Hemke, Eugene Rousseau and James Houlik.
Moolenbeek has enjoyed teaching saxophone at McMaster University in Hamilton and at NMC since 1987. He has played with orchestras, choirs and bands across Canada and has recorded several discs of chamber music as well as appearing on many recordings of other artists. He has commissioned and premiered works by various Canadian composers.
He has presented over 2000 workshops in schools and is an artist clinician for Jupiter saxophones and Vandoren reeds. More information can be found at his site http://singingsax.com and he can be heard on his YouTube channel.
