Programs
Instrumental & Vocal Jazz (Includes Intermediate Jazz for gr.7-8 students) - Senior Camp
Instrumental classes include big band, combos, improvisation, master classes and listening. Students are exposed to a variety of jazz repertoire. Vocal jazz students sing in a jazz choir and work on solo singing, improvisation and interpretation. They are also assigned to combo and big bands.
The jazz faculty at N.M.C. is a unique group of outstanding performers and teachers. Together they constitute one phenomenal big band, led by Larry Shields, our Jazz Director. As full-time resident teachers and conductors, they perform in concert every single evening. Imagine attending a superb jazz concert every night plus having the opportunity to learn from and interact with these fabulous musicians as part of your daily routine. There is a mandatory rental program for all rhythm ( bass, guitar and drums) and vocal students. This covers the cost of renting drumsets, keyboards, amps, microphones and sound equipment.
