General Camp Policies for Staff:

  1. We have an “on-camp” policy. Except for Town Night or emergencies, all staff remain on site.
  2. Staff curfew is 12:00 midnight.
  3. Smoking is only allowed after camper lights out in a designated area.
  4. No illicit drugs or alcohol are permitted anywhere by any staff,.Any staff who breaks this rule will be subject to immediate dismissal. In addition, the camp reserves the right to contact police if any staff member is found in possession of illicit drugs
  5. No camper/staff relationships
  6. NMC is a ‘nut-free’ camp
  7. Cell phones may only be used after camper lights out. Reception isn’t that great. We prefer that they be left at home.
  8. Male staff may not enter female cabins and female staff may not enter male cabins.
  9. Relationships between staff must be discreet, responsible and appropriate at all times, particularly in the presence of campers.
  10. The camp shall not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage to personal property, howsoever caused.
  11. Prescription drugs brought with you to camp should be taken to the Health Centre and registered there. Prescription medication can only be kept in your cabin with permission and acknowledgement from the Health Centre and camp Director.
  12. While we respect a person's individuality we expect our staff to set a positive example, as set out by the camp and its philosophy. We have therefore adopted the following policy: We reserve the right to require staff to cover tattoos and not wear clothing that is excessively unkempt or portrays alcohol or drug use, sex, profanity, etc., whenever on duty or in the presence of campers. The same applies to inappropriate jewelry, adornments and excessive makeup.
  13. Emergency procedures, fire & safety

We have detailed emergency procedures covering all possible situations at camp, i.e. fire, waterfront emergency, lost camper, bad weather, etc. The constant ringing of the dinner bell signals a camp wide emergency. Upon hearing this ringing, all campers and staff must go to the flagpole and line up in their cabin groups, waiting quietly for further instructions. Our cabins are equipped with smoke detectors and all buildings in camp have accessible fire extinguishers.
