Margot Jewell, Suzuki Strings

 

Margot is a passionate educator, who did her first teaching as staff at NMC! She is now invited to work with students at music camps, Suzuki workshops and institutes throughout Canada. After receiving a B Mus and ARCT, she trained with many inspiring Suzuki pedagogues in Canada, the USA , France and for three months in  Matsumoto Japan with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.

In 1982 she founded the non-profit music school, Etobicoke Suzuki Music, where she presently teaches violin and viola students, mentors young teachers and is co-director.

Margot has performed with many orchestras including the Hamilton Philharmonic, Niagara Symphony, Opera York and the Aradia and Te Deum Baroque ensembles.

She is in demand as a festival adjudicator across Canada. As the Specialist String Examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music, Margot is involved in the training and development of examiners as well as reviewing the new RCM violin syllabus revisions. Margot was a board member for many years with the Suzuki Association of Ontario, and presently is taking leadership roles with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
