Dear NMC Families,
It is with profound sadness that I write this letter. What seemed unimaginable only a few weeks ago, is now a reality. Based on the order made by the Ontario provincial government earlier this week, Ontario overnight camps will not be able to operate this summer due to the risks associated with the spread of COVID-19.
I am devastated to deliver this news knowing how important camp is to our lives, particularly this summer. For 55 consecutive seasons, NMC has been a magical summer home for thousands of campers, staff and faculty. I cannot imagine a summer without camp. NMC is not only a place filled with music, fun and friendship, but an opportunity to grow and achieve on so many levels. This experience that we love to provide will be deeply missed by all our campers, parents, staff, faculty and the director team.
It is impossible to feel good about this message right now; however, we must remain optimistic and be thankful for our health and families. Life will return to normal and so will camp.
We rarely talk about or have to deal with homesickness at NMC with campers so engaged and passionate about the program. Ironically, I will now as we are all camp sick campers that need time to adjust and realize we will overcome this feeling and be OK. We take great pride in our ability to help campers work through adversity or any challenge at camp. That does not change now. We are here for you and your children as we collectively process this difficult news. Before we know it, the camp cycle will circle once more and we will return to the place we love and make beautiful music together.
I will be reaching out once again next week with our refund options and schedule. I hope your family is well and managing as best as possible. Better times are ahead.
Stay safe and healthy!
